Audiobook Builder 1.2.3 is Ready to Spook!

1.2.3 now lets you add Chapter artwork at up to 512x512 pixels, resolves a couple of pesky -43 errors and fixes a file naming preference bug.

Named a "Mac Gem" from the start, Audiobook Builder continues to surprise and delight new users. In his review, Dan Frakes of MacWorld advises readers, "If you're a regular listener of audiobooks, $10 is more than reasonable for a utility that will save you lots of time fiddling with file conversions, merges, and renaming."

Audiobook Builder has also been featured on MacGroup-Detroit, SurfBits, and Nosillacast. Phyliss Evans, of MacGroup, provided the basics on getting started (including screenshots) in her review. Evans, who purchased Audiobook Builder during our back to school sale earlier this year, was impressed by the low price and stated, "Using it couldn't be easier."

Audiobook Builder is the easy way to import and organize your audiobook CD's or audio tracks that are already on your Mac. Current users can download Audiobook Builder 1.2.3 for free. If you are not already a user, you're welcome to download it for free, build 20 minutes of an audiobook, and see how well it works for you!

Checkbook Companion for iPhone

"What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet."
-- Juliet, William Shakespere's "Romeo & Juliet"

As we rapidly approach the completion of Checkbook for the iPhone, the question of a name comes up daily. Like Juliet, in one of the most famous romances of all time, we know that it's the meat of the application that counts most. Still, we are wracking our brains to come up with a name that will represent an iPhone app that is coming into existence with a fair amount of our blood, sweat, and tears. Never fear, the right name is right around the corner...

Race for the Cure

Keith, Randy, and I joined 17,000 runners and walkers in the Race for the Cure on October 9th, 2010 to help raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

As we headed over to the starting line, an announcer came on the loud speaker and walked us through the progress that has been made since the Foundation was started. The survival rate for breast cancer thirty years ago was approximately 72%. With early detection and research (that has yielded better treatment options) the survival rate is now 98%.

Pink sheets of paper were available for participants to write the names of loved ones, who had battled breast cancer, and pin them on the backs of their shirts. Some sheets read, "In Honor of" while others said, "In Memory of". While running, one woman's shirt really caught my eye. It said, "In Memory of My Mother, In Honor of My Sister and Me".

It was humbling and inspiring to run with survivors and those who ran in memory of their loved ones.

A recent CheckBook tip:
Get a cash flow estimate in CheckBook with Look Ahead - set up all your repeating transactions as Schedules, show the Schedule Reminder by selecting "Scheduled Entries" from the Schedule menu, then look for the Look Ahead options at the bottom of the Schedule Reminder sheet.

And Audiobook Builder tricks like:
Audiobook Builder builds one book at a time - but you can run more than one copy. Select the application in the Finder and choose "Duplicate" from the File menu. Open a different Project in each copy of the app and build!
