I have used MS Money, Quicken - MS & Mac, iBank4 and Moneydance. Compared to CheckBook Pro they are all dinosaurs.

I have been a CheckBook Pro user for only 3 weeks now. I have converted 15 financial accounts from MoneyDance and now am using CheckBook Pro exclusively. I just wanted to let the Splasm team know that I think CheckBook Pro is the best ever. I am recommending it to every Mac user I know.

One change that I would like to see, however, is the ability to eliminate the $ sign from the Amount field. That's petty, right?

Welcome to the group! :D

I actually appreciate the currency sign. I use Pound Sterling when I am abroad and having the currency sign reminds me of that. I can see that if folks use a number of different accounts using different currencies this will be found to be quite helpful.

Thanks Prider. I didn't think of that as I only use dollars. However, an option to remove it would be nice.

That's an interesting idea. We can certainly look in to making that an option in a future release for those users that don't want to see the currency symbol in the Amount field. Thanks!

I don't see any dollar signs in any field. Yes, my currency is set for USD.

Yeah, I guess it actually is possible to remove the dollar sign from the Amount field...

You'd just have to edit the currency or create a new one. To do this, in CheckBook Pro, first, choose 'Edit All Accounts...' from the Account menu at the top of the screen. Then, click on the Currencies button. From there, you can add a new currency or double-click on the one in use. If you clear out the Currency symbol field, that currency will have no currency symbol associated with it, so everywhere you normally see a dollar sign will have nothing.

So, yeah, this is a sort of workaround way for you to keep the dollar sign from showing up in the Amount field or anywhere else for that matter. Good luck!

Thanks Allan. That works just perfect and my accounts no longer display the currency symbol.
