I have been using this application for almost 2 years now and it is a brilliant application.

I was somehow unaware of this forum so up until now I have always contacted Splasm directly. I usually always have a suggestion or two for software authors and how they respond says a lot about them. Splasm have always been top drawer when it comes to feedback and support. Thank you.

Reconciling is still a bugbear for me though. Each month a statement drops through the door from my bank. One and a half pages of entries have to be checked off against CheckBook and I hate it. My partner, also a registered CheckBook user tends to leave reconciling for 3 months and then moans like a drain at having so much to do. I have two suggestions: -

1). Would it be possible to start up CheckBook and have it at the front. Then open up the envelope and show the statement to the built in camera and have CheckBook read the statements, reconcile the balance, then using some artificial intelligence calculate some complex mathematical calculation to earn me some more money of my account is low that month. I would be happy to wait for version 3 for this!

2). And now the serious bit! I asked some months ago to be able to reconcile more easily. My suggestion was to be able to use the arrow keys to be able to move up and down the entries and then tap the spacebar to reconcile that entry. CheckBook would then move the selection to the next entry. This would allow you to tick off entries on your statement with one hand and reconcile in CheckBook with the other.

3). Another suggestion was to be able to exclude certain accounts from the Grand Total figure. I was pleased to see the grand total figure implemented after mine (and probably others) suggestion.

I am really looking forward to version 2 and I hope that there will be the option to buy a family upgrade where two users in the same house originally bought individual licences.

I'd like to second this idea. I finally migrated my data from MoneyDance to CheckBook last night and had to catch up on a couple of months-worth of reconciliation and would much prefer a keyboard shortcut such as the spacebar.

Another call for more Keyboard equivalents. CheckBook relies way to heavily on the use of the mouse, and thats a particular pain when reconciling.
