I seem to recall in previous versions there was a split / archive option that allowed you to set an end date and have the app create an archived set of accounts prior to that date and then start a new file with only the entries post that date appearing. I can't see any way to do that now.

Aside from the fact that I have accounts and entries dating back about 7 years the other reason I want to to start afresh from the start of this financial year is that I keep getting an auto fill suggestion of Transer in the Type field despite finding and deleting the one or two mistakes (so where is the app getting the suggestion from?). This happend every single bloody time and is SO frustrating. So I figured deleting the previous years might help if the app is pulling info from there. Or is the app using it's own dictionary from somewhere that I can somehow purge?

It's also quite easy to delete any misspelled item that made its way onto your Types list by going up to click the Account menu at the top of the screen, selecting the Edit Account menu option, clicking "Types" up top, selecting the item in the list, and then hitting the Remove button that's marked with the slashed-circle icon.

re the autofill issue, actually it's not a Type. It's an auto-fill option that appears when I type in the Category field.
