I have been managing a relative's personal accounts over the last few years. Unfortunately the person passed away recently and their accounts are no longer active. I had their accounts included with my accounts in my master document. I would like delete the two accounts (checking and saving) but them in a way that I can retrieve them at later date if needed.

I did think of one method
- duplicating the my existing backup file with a new name
-creating a new document from the duplicated backup
-Deleting my personal accounts from the new document
- update the new backup
-Deleting the newly created document

Am I missing a easier way?

Thanks

Paul

It'd be only slightly easier to avoid making a duplicate of a backup, which then needs to be deleted later. A backup is already a duplicate of your document, so in turn is automatically a self-contained document. Basically, you'd do the following:

- Open CheckBook to where can see your data, then go to the File menu and use the Backup menu option. You can give the backup any name you want, at this point.
- Open the backup you just saved with a double-click and delete your personal accounts from said backup.
- Switch back to your primary document (most easily done using the Open Recent option under the File menu and selecting the second item listed) and delete the relative's accounts.

That's probably the easiest way of going about things.

Thanks, worked perfectly. If need be, next time is will open a separate file to avoid this issue.

Couldn’t you just leave things alone and just create 2 Smart Folders? I think Smart Folders are one of the best features of CP pro.
