Currently, I have to tab five times to get to the amount, and twice to get to the Payee.

Can I eliminate the fields that I never use, circled in the attachment?

There's no way to eliminate fields. But, perhaps it would help to tell the application select the Amount first, when adding new entries. Just go up to click the CheckBook (Pro) menu at the top of the screen and click the Entry button, to get to where you can do that.

interesting idea. Perhaps allow the user to rearrange the items in the box. then he could put the unwanted fields at the bottom of the box and that would do it.
