I'm using Checkbook Pro 2.6.7 on Mac OS High Sierra (10.13.6). I just downloaded the current version, and when I booted, it offered to reformat my checkbook data document to make it compatible. This got me nervous. Sounded like there might be no going back. What do you advise? Thanks.

We always recommend staying up-to-date. That way, you'll have access to all of the latest bug fixes. If you think you may want to revert to an older version, feel free to create a backup before committing, though.

Thanks, Allan. I made a copy of the Data file; not sure how I would access it with the old version, but the new seems to be working fine with modified Data file.

Sounds good. If you find you ever need to open a backup, though, double-clicking it should do the trick.

Do you really need a backup file if you use Time Machine?

Nope. Anyone using Time Machine shouldn't really need to save a backup manually.
