Hello everyone! CheckBook and CheckBook Pro 2.5.8 are now available, with details at http://www.splasmata.com/?p=3002. If you're on OS X El Capitan and check for updates inside the applications themselves you'll get a message that 2.5.7 is the latest available, but that's due to an incompatibility with the third-party software update code we used up until 2.5.7. Once you get 2.5.8 each application will again be able to tell you when updates are available. Please get in touch at support@splasm.com if you need any additional details.
