With the automatic check numbering feature enabled, CheckBook Pro will automatically increment from the last check number that was used but will jump over numbers that already exist in an account. So, since you’re seeing an issue, perhaps it relates to attempts at repeating previously-used numbers—for example, putting in “1000” will get you 1051 next time if numbers 1000 through 1050 are already taken. Supposing that applies to your situation, one option would be to go to very old checks (at least items with numbers close to the current check numbering scheme) and remove the numbers from them. If you think you may need to look back at the older checks, through searching by check number, you could always move the check number over to the Description field (or some other field).
