Hello! I am trying to split some of my audiobook files into their actual chapter length and title. However, when I select a file, it will not let me split it. How can I change that?

Hi there!

It sounds like you're looking for a way to take a single audio file and trim or split it as needed. Audiobook Builder's Split feature is for splitting Chapters, which are groups of audio Files inside Audiobook Builder, into one Chapter per File. It can't be used to trim or split a File into smaller pieces, at least not yet. That's something we're thinking on for a future update. In the meantime, there are free or cheap tools out there to do just what you're looking for - search the web for "mac audio file trimmer" or "mac audio file splitter" without the quotes and see what turns up - though you can also use iTunes or Music with Audiobook Builder to get the same work done in a pinch. Audiobook Builder respects the start/stop times set in iTunes and Music, so when you set these values for a track in either application then add the track to Audiobook Builder, you'll get just the piece of that file between the start and stop times. To set the start/stop times in iTunes or Music, select the track with a single click, use the Command (⌘) - I keyboard shortcut to reveal details for that track, click the Options button near the top center of the window, then set the start and stop times as needed. Drag the track to your Audiobook Builder project, make sure you get the sliver of audio you need, then uncheck the start and stop times for the track back in iTunes or Music.

Hope that helps out there. Let us know if you need any additional details!
