Post subject:  Strange Conversion of Imported MP3 Files

I normally import MP3 files, which I can edit with Sound Studio. However, after the files are imported, when I open the Package Contents of the audiobook and look at the audio files in the Finder, the audio files show as Quicktime movies and can no longer be edited with Sound Studio. Why are audio files converted and made non-editable in an audio editor in this manner?

See attached screenshot of the Package Contents of an audiobook file.

Our original design wasn't for audio files to be edited outside of Audiobook Builder once they are imported in. Audiobook Builder flattens mp3 files into QuickTime Movie format in order to significantly decrease load times.

After building some audiobooks, I have noticed several times that I have failed to edit out some intro, outro, or similar stuff in the middle of a track. It would be convenient to be able to go in and edit the imported file to remove such stuff, without needing to start over with the source, import it again, etc. It would be nice if you would enhance the program to allow such post-import editing. I know you are looking at adding trimming ability, but I am thinking now specifically of dross in the middle of a track and not just at the beginning and end.
