I don't know if there was a question in anyone else's mind about this. I was a little concerned when I heard that QuickTime had changed quite a bit in Snow Leopard. So far I've done several types of ABB imports under Snow Leopard -- importing from CD, importing from MP3 files on CD, importing from selected AAC tracks in iTunes; no problems with any of them so far.

Long live Audiobook Builder!

We haven't seen anything fail yet with Audiobook Builder 1.1.1 under Mac OS X 10.6 but we have confirmed there's a serious performance issue importing from CDs. Right now it seems QuickTime itself is responsible, as QuickTime Player 7 under Mac OS X 10.6 is just as slow as Audiobook Builder. It's not related to the fact that Audiobook Builder is a 32-bit application - we wrote a very simple 64-bit test app to rule that out and it was also very slow at importing from CDs. We have a workaround planned that we'll tackle in the morning and throw into Audiobook Builder 1.1.2.

Just to make sure - is that speed problem with importing from CD?

Hm. I never noticed the time difference. I usually figure loading up a book is a long-term proposition anyway, and waiting for it to finish is like trying to watch the pot boil. I have such a backlog of audiobooks now that I'm never in much of a hurry to load a new one. So I pop in a disk, start the import, and come back 20-30 minutes later. I usually get two or three disks done a night that way, so it takes me several days to work through a whole audiobook.

I look forward to the update, even though I didn't notice the problem! ABB is one of my most-used programs.
