Quite often I'll start typing in part of the category for a transaction, then realize I don't remember how I defined the category or sub-category names.

At this point I'll click on the arrow to see the full list of categories. This gives me a full list of categories, but the list always starts with the first category in alphabetical order (auto, bank, clothing...). This means I have to scroll a long ways down to get to the categories that interest me.

It would be much better to bring up the same list of categories, but at a point in the list that matches what I've just typed in. This would leave me with very little scrolling, and save me time and effort.

I'll second this request.

Ditto for me.

Oddly enough, Apple's default implementation of the user interface item we're using for Categories, called an NSComboBox, does not automatically scroll to match the text entered by the user. Last I recall we have a plan on making this work as expected.

Side note: If you're typing in a Category name you can type in a colon character, ':', to autocomplete the Category name.
