I am looking forward to the 2.0 release and the possibility of better handling of splits. What I am looking for is:
Tax
Most receipts list item cost and tax (in the US) as separate items. If I purchase several items my splits don't add up as they are minus the tax amount. I have to manually calculate amount + tax and enter that. The items in my split and the receipt in my hand don't then correspond.
It would be nice if CheckBook could take care of this for me.
Type / Categories
Currently splits don't allow me to put items into different types / categories, so I end up creating multiple entries, which then don't reconcile cleanly with my bank statement. If I buy dog food and socks at Target I want to be able to track them under the types that I would normally use. Currently I cant.
Viewing splits
The only way to see the items in a split is to open the item and then click on the split tab. It would be nice if there was a disclosure triangle in the standard list views so that I could easily expand and view the split.
Reports / filters
Because splits and types don't work well together, reports and filters are inaccurate.
