I'm okay with the separate dialogue window for entering or editing an entry -- strikes me as unnecessary UI but okay. What I'm not okay with, in any app of this kind, is the unnecessary use of the mouse for entry: everything should be available by the keyboard. The "Type" pull-down menu breaks this for me.

Otherwise, CheckBook is a fine little app and I'm considering buying it -- I don't need portfolio management, just the ability to manage multiple accounts and produce reports as various moments. (iBank failed me here.)

If the developers check this, could you give us a sense of where this functionality sits in your queue. This decides, for me and perhaps for others, whether I purchase the app or not. (I'm not trying to be bitchy here: but keyboard navigation strikes me as crucial.)

We appreciate the need to access each user interface element by keyboard. We haven't yet been able to find a way to control this behavior on a per-application basis, but it might be possible to hand-tune some controls to allow this behavior in a future release. For now, there's another option. In the Keyboard & Mouse preference panel in System Preferences, at the bottom of the Keyboard Shortcuts tab, there's a setting called Full Keyboard Access. If you flip this setting to "All Controls" all applications will allow tabbing to almost every interactive user interface element.
