I downloaded Checkbook and Checkbook Pro from the Apple App Store but I'm not able to move it to iCloud. I've checked my settings but I must be missing something. Any ideas?

Perhaps verify that you've gone through all of these steps:

1. Make sure you're signed into iCloud. You can sign into iCloud by going to the Apple menu at the top left of your screen, clicking the System Preferences... item, clicking the iCloud preference pane icon and signing in at the left side of the window.
2. Make sure Documents & Data is enabled in the iCloud preferences pane in System Preferences. You can enable Documents & Data by going to the Apple menu at the top left of your screen, clicking the System Preferences... item, clicking the iCloud preference pane icon and putting a checkmark next to the Documents & Data item.
3. Open your Accounts document in CheckBook (Pro).
4. Go to the File menu at the top left of your screen and click the Move To... item. A sheet will appear at the top of the document window.
Click the menu button in the sheet, then click the iCloud menu item.

If anything doesn't go as expected to at any point, let us know what you find there.

I've done all of the above steps. I can move the accounts to Dropbox but not iCloud. Any other thoughts.

We'll definitely need to gather some additional information.

First off, what operating system version are you running on your Mac? To check, choose 'About this Mac' from the Apple menu at the top of the screen.

Also, what exactly happens after you select the Move To option? If you're able to get to the point where you can select iCloud from the menu button on the Move To sheet, are you receiving an error message? Or, is the iCloud option not showing there? Basically, we're looking to find out what indication, if any, you're coming across that lets you know that the iCloud option isn't working as expected.

I'm using OSX version 10.8.4.

I can get to the point where I can select iCloud. However, the move button is indicated in "gray" therefore I'm not able to click on it as I can if I want to move to Dropbox.

One explanation for the Move button to be greyed-out when trying to move a file to iCloud is if the document is already there. Could you double-check to see that the iCloud move didn't already go through previously? For that, let us know what you see when you go up to the Account document name that shows at the very top of CheckBook (Pro)'s main window and click on that name while holding down the Command key on the keyboard (or right-clicking there). The menu that pops-up walks you backwards through the save location path.

It just shows accounts and nothing about iCloud.

I think you have to be using CB that was purchased from the App Store. Mine also doesn't show iCloud as an option.

Hi, I'm glad someone else is having the same problem. I had just upgraded to CB PRO so that I could use iCloud.

We've already verified that you're using an App Store version since you see the iCloud option on the Move To window—it's just greyed-out. With versions from our online store, like t3rockhall's using, that option isn't available on the Move To window and shouldn't be (so not an issue, in his case). Only versions from the App Store being used on Mountain Lion include the iCloud interface addition.

Did you Command-click on the Account name as suggested? If so, you'd have seen a menu pop up like in the screenshot I attached with one or more folders listed beneath the Accounts document name. What exactly is listed within that menu there, if not iCloud? Including your own screenshot would be quite helpful for us, if the file path is rather long.

Here's my screen shot. I hope I got it for you as I'm not that familiar with using screen shots. Thanks

Well, that settles it: your Accounts file is in iCloud—that explains why the Move button's not available as you can't move something to somewhere it already resides. Moving forward, to access your Accounts Document in CheckBook (Pro) on another Mac, just choose 'Open' from the File menu at the top of the screen and then hit the iCloud button in the top left corner of the Open window.
