I am trying to import a QIF file into Checkbook Pro. I'm a new user. I have checked ALL categories in the Import dialogue box, but when the file comes into Checkbook Pro, there are no categories specified.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

Hmmm.

Have you gone into the edit accounts menu item and seen if the categories are there? If so, are they checked to be used?

I had no problems at all converting mu Quicken files when I made the change four years ago.

Good luck!

Sorry. Not sure what you mean. There's an Account Menu--Edit Account. But that doesn't tell me whether categories are checked to be used.

I'm lost.

In the menu bar look under Account--Edit All Accounts. There is a categories tab that lists all categories and an available checkmark to see if the category is being used. If the category is not checked that mens that there are no transactions which are using tha category.

I see that there are checkmarks by most of the categories, but not of them are appearing in the checkbook register. :-(

Do the categories show when editing or adding a transaction?
Are you sure the register view is set to show the categories column? Perhaps the column is to the far right and not visible? Or perhaps youve ticked the categories column to not be shown? You might try to resize the window and columns so that you can see the ones you want...
Can't think of anything else.
