I want to remove selected entries from one account. Some of selected entries are linked to entries in another account that I don't want affected (specifically transfers from savings to checking)... All this is a part of my keeping my checkbook registers as separate account registers for each year. I keep savings account registers going on and on from year to year... I also use the bottom total balance of all accounts as a reference for budgeting, so I need to export and hold past year's records in a separate folder in case they are ever needed......

When I delete the selected entries in the checkbook register (after exporting in both qif and txt, to keep records of past years and to use for taxes) I'm given just two choices, to keep or discard the links... When I keep them the checking account is thrown off but the savings account remains accurate. As a part of this I re-enter the starting balance, changing it to the balance that was connected to the last entry of the previous year that was removed),.

And, when I discard the links the checkbook register is right but the savings account balance is thrown off in a comparable way...

How do I un-link the links while keeping all the records in both accounts intact, so that I can then discard the entries in the one account without throwing anything in either account off... Or is there another way of doing what I am trying to do...

I've actually been doing this for a few years, but apparently this is the first time there are some linked entries. I think I was going in before and just typing in the actual entries twice when I did a transfer, not yet having discovered that checkbook would do it for me with just one entry...

I tried searching the forum about this...

I'm using checkbook, not checkbook pro...

We have been in email contact with John regarding his issue and hopefully he has a resolution. Any old single post comments are most likely posted on the forum and emailed simultaneously. We usually respond to the email first and sometimes forget to follow up on the forum as well.

Yes, I have been given a solution that involves the filter abilities of checkbook... It accomplishes what I need, and thanks for the prompt response via email and for a great piece of software...

John.
